Gabe's Web Page: Home Page

Theme of web page

This web page will discuss the famous Greek and Norse myths and the ancient civilizations that created and practiced these religions, and I may even add Egytion later. The second, third, and forth tabs in the menu at the top will take you to info regarding these mythologies. To be clear, these are all very complex and sophisticated cultures and stories, and this webpage cannot possibly do them justice, so if you want to learn more about them I suggest you find many more sources. Not all sources will have the exact same variations of these stories, because they can all be interpreted in many ways, and since they are all, as far as I know, fictional myths, any retelling of them is likely to be subjected to personal preference of storytelling and embellishment. I have chosen the versions of the myths that I like the best, but I haven't heard close to all of them. So don't expect my telling of these stories to match the ones told by others, and no variation is more accurate than any other.

Portfolio

I live in Portland OR., in the United States of America. As of the 2022 - 2023 school year I am in ninth grade at Franklin High School, and this is my first year taking a coding class. I’m in computer science 1-2 this year, but I’m planning on taking 3-4 next year, and hope to continue my studies after that. I am very interested in coding, and am strongly considering it as a potential career path. I already know a few languages, including Javascript, HTML, and CSS, and I’m planning to learn C# this summer. Even if I don’t use my coding skills in my career, I would still find a use for it in making mods for my favorite video games, as that is a hobby that I plan to keep for a long time. Making Minecraft mods has always seemed interesting to me, but it seemed like a far fetched goal, but now that I know Javascript, it is a relatively simple interest to pursue.

In my free time I like to play video games, especially Minecraft. I also like to stay active, playing soccer and recently futsal, an indoor version of soccer that is played on a smaller court, wood, smaller teams, and a smaller ball. Even the goals are smaller! This makes futsal faster paced and more active than soccer. I also tried long jumping for the first time this year. I really enjoyed it, but I think I still prefer soccer. I also like watching comedy TV shows. Some of my favorites are Parks and Rec, The Office, Modern Family, Brooklyn 99, 30 Rock, and more.

This is where I will put my portfolio.
